Alexx Ekubo-Okwaraeke (born 10 April 1986) is a Nigerian actor, model, and humanitarian.

He is best known for his roles in Nollywood romantic comedies and dramas and is considered one of the most bankable and versatile talents in contemporary African cinema. He was the first runner-up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria contest and rose to prominence with his breakout role in Ladies Men. In 2020, he was named one of the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) under 40 by the United Nations, recognizing his contributions to entertainment and social development across the continent.

Early Life and Education

Ekubo is a native of Arochukwu, Abia State in the south-eastern region part of Nigeria. He attended Federal Government College Daura, Katsina State in the Northern region of Nigeria. He studied law at the University of Calabar, Cross River State, & also earned a Diploma in Mass Communication from Calabar Polytechnic, Cross River State, Nigeria. He was also awarded an Honorary Degree in Arts & Culture from the Instut Supèrieur de Communcation et de Gestion (ISCG University) Cotonou, Republic of Benin, 2021.

Ekubo is known for his strong sense of style, and is frequently featured on best-dressed lists across Africa. He maintains a private lifestyle and often uses his platform to advocate for social causes and youth empowerment.

Career

Ekubo’s film debut was a minor role in Lancelot Oduwa Imaseun’s Sinners in the house (2005) He later starred in Afamefuna, Power of 1, A Sunday Affair, Omo Ghetto: The Saga, The Bling Lagosians, Catch.er, Zero Hour, The First Lady, Lagos Cougars Tinsel, AY's Crib, Weekend Getaway, among other films, often portraying charismatic or comedic characters. His performances have been praised for blending humour, emotional depth, and commercial appeal.

With over a 100 films credit, Ekubo has worked with leading Nollywood filmmakers and is increasingly recognized as a cultural bridge between African and diaspora cinema. His appearances at film festivals across the world and work with streaming platforms giants have positioned him as a global African talent.

Philanthropy and Advocacy

Beyond entertainment, Ekubo is a humanitarian/philanthropist youth advocate. He has participated in numerous charitable initiatives and outreach programs across Nigeria and the West African region. In 2020 He received a certificate of excellence from the Sapio Club SGD (Sustainable Goals Development) for an exemplary contribution to the African Entertainment & Humanitarian Effort. In 2021, he was awarded the Global Social Giving Actor of the Year by the Nigerian National Awards for his charity efforts

Ekubo served as a Rotary Youth Ambassador of the year under Rotary International District 9142.
