Musical artist From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alan Sandow (born 28 February 1952) is an Australian drummer and was a member of the rock band Sherbet.[1][2]
After previously being in a band called The Daisy Roots, Sandow joined Sherbet in 1969, aged seventeen. Sherbet would go on to have hits such as Summer Love (1975) and Howzat (1976), both reaching number one in Australia. After the break-up of Sherbet in 1984, Sandow joined The Willie Winter Band with guitarist Ian "Willie" Winter and bass player Barry McCulloch.
Sandow stated that during the original Sherbet tenure, that lasted from 1969 to 1984, they never missed one gig:[3]
We never ripped anyone off and we always tried our hardest to put on a great live show; that was Sherbet.
Sandow was born in Adelaide and was later educated at Newington College in Sydney (1964-1968).[4]
Sandow opted out of the professional music scene after the breakup of Sherbet, and now works for a regional airline in New South Wales.
