Points system

Points were awarded to the first 20 placegetters in each race as per the following table:[1]

Race position[1] 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th 13th 14th 15th 16th 17th 18th 19th 20th
Points[1] 30 27 24 21 19 17 15 14 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2
  • Where a round was contested over multiple heats, each driver's points were aggregated and then divided by the number of heats to determine the championship points allocation for that round.[1]
  • Only the best eight round results counted towards a driver's total.[1]
