On October 5, in one of the most lopsided contests in Notre Dame history, junior quarterback Gus Dorais led the Irish to a 116–7 rout of St. Viator in the season-opener.^[1] Second year coach John L. Marks guided Notre Dame to another undefeated season in 1912, following up a 6–0–2 record in 1911 with a 7–0 mark.
