Zhem, Kazakhstan, (Kazakh: Жем, Jem) is a town in Aktobe Region of Kazakhstan. Population: 1,936 (2009 Census results);[1] 1,142 (1999 Census results).[1] Zhem, lying a short distance to the south of Embi, was a former military installation known as Emba-5 (or Embi-5)[2] before it was granted town status.
