Please note that we don't wrap the stub tag's category parameter with <noinclude>. We eant the stub tags in the categories - and the template always places them at the beginning, before the articles. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:48, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

Drive: Thanks to everyone who participated in November's Backlog Elimination Drive. Of the 43 people who signed up for this drive, 26 copy edited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: The November Drive removed 26 requests from the Requests page and 509 articles from the {{copy edit}} backlog. We copy edited 83 articles tagged in the target months; July, August, and September 2013. Together with tag removals from articles unsuitable for copy editing, we eliminated July 2013 from the backlog and reduced August and September's tags to 61 and 70 respectively. As of 01:01, 1 December 2014 (UTC), the backlog stood at 1,974 articles, dipping below 2,000 for the first time in the Guild's history (see graph at right). Well done everyone! Blitz: The December Blitz will run from December 14–20 and will focus on articles related to Religion, in recognition of this month's religious holidays in much of the English-speaking world. Awards will be given out to everyone who copy edits at least one of the target articles. Sign up here! Election time again: The election of coordinators to serve from 1 January to 30 June 2015 is now underway. Candidates can nominate themselves or others from December 01, 00:01 (UTC), until December 15, 23:59. The voting period will run from December 16, 00:01 (UTC), until December 31, 23:59. You can read about coordinators' duties here. Please consider getting involved and remember to cast you vote—it's your Guild and it doesn't organize itself! Thank you all once again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve anything without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Baffle gab1978, and Miniapolis. I saw that you were an available recruiter on the list of GA recruiters and I was wondering if you would be interested in recruiting me. I am very interested in the GA reviewing process and in removing the backlog in Wikipedia along with improving articles overall. Thank you so much for considering me for recruitment. - SantiLak (talk) 01:00, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

Round one of the 2015 WikiCup has begun! So far we've had around 80 signups, which close on February 5. If you have not already signed up and want to do so, then you can add your name here. There have been changes to to several of the points scores for various categories, and the addition of Peer Reviews for the first time. These will work in the same manner as Good Article Reviews, and all of the changes are summarised here.
Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round, and one of the new changes this year is that all scores must be claimed within two weeks of an article's promotion or appearance, so don't forget to add them to your submissions pages! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! G'day TheQ. You scored an article I actually haven't passed yet. I've fixed in on my submissions page, but you might want to fix the Pools page. My mistake, I cut and pasted the template to the next line but didn't change it to rev. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 00:33, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Alliance Global Group is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alliance Global Group (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. —BarrelProof (talk) 18:52, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Hey Q, would you mind leaving a few comments (or just a support ) on the Falcon's Fury FAC review. I know you left comments before but that review was closed due to a lack of responses. Thanks! --Dom497 (talk) 15:55, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello,
I'm Soni and I, along with I JethroBT and a couple other editors, am working on a mentorship space here on the English Wikipedia called The Co-op. Our basic idea is that we could make one-to-one adoption programs between mentors and learners more organised and have them cater to what the interests of the newcomers onWiki are. Seeing that you already have a functional adoption program of your own, we think that your experience dealing with newcomers could be very helpful for us. We're hoping to launch our pilot by February so if you're interested in helping out, please sign up here.
If you have any questions, do let me know. Cheers,
Soni (talk) (Previously TheOriginalSoni) 15:51, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the GAN review! I think I've addressed all your issues, although one or two may require some follow-up. Let me know if you need anything more! — Hunter Kahn 03:38, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Hey. So I know the Jesper Fast GAN is over, but I just realized that WP:LEADLENGTH says that an article of 15,000 characters or less should usually have a two-paragraph lead. I had expanded the lead per your suggestion in the GAN, but since the article is only just shy of 14,000 characters, I'm thinking I may have expanded it too much. I was thinking of tightening a bit, but wanted to run it by you before I did so in case you had any thoughts. — Hunter Kahn 14:44, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

The GA Cup Barnstar | ||
For your involvement as a judge for the 2014–15 GA Cup. It was a fun and rewarding experience for us all. You guys deserve a barnstar too :) — MusikAnimal talk 22:55, 28 February 2015 (UTC) |
That's it, the first round is done, sign-ups are closed and we're into round 2. 64 competitors made it into this round, and are now broken into eight groups of eight. The top two of each group will go through to round 3, and then the top scoring 16 "wildcards" across all groups. Round 1 saw some interesting work on some very important articles, with the round leader Freikorp (submissions) owing most of his 622 points scored to a Featured Article on the 2001 film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within which qualified for a times-two multiplier. This is a higher score than in previous years, as Godot13 (submissions) had 500 points in 2014 at the end of round 1, and our very own judge, Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) led round 1 with 601 points in 2013.
In addition to Freikorp's work, some other important articles and pictures were improved during round one, here's a snapshot of a few of them:
You may also wish to know that The Core Contest is running through the month of March. Head there for further details - they even have actual prizes!
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Go (game) has a long-standing template that says it is being rewritten, but Talk:Go (game)/Rewrite hasn't been touched in six months. I would like to remove the template, since it scares off other people from editing.
Is Talk: Go (game)/Rewrite still active? You were one of the two editors using it, so I hoped you would know. Please answer in Talk:Go (game). Thanks. - DavidWBrooks (talk) 22:50, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

The second round one has all wrapped up, and round three has now begun! Congratulations to the 34 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our second round. Leading the way overall was Cas Liber (submissions) in Group B with a total of 777 points for a variety of contributions including Good Articles on Corona Borealis and Microscopium - both of which received the maximum bonus.
Special credit must be given to a number of high importance articles improved during the second round.
The points varied across groups, with the lowest score required to gain automatic qualification was 68 in Group A - meanwhile the second place score in Group H was 404, which would have been high enough to win all but one of the other Groups! As well as the top two of each group automatically going through to the third round, a minimum score of 55 was required for a wildcard competitor to go through. We had a three-way tie at 55 points and all three have qualified for the next round, in the spirit of fairness. The third round ends on June 28, with the top two in each group progressing automatically while the remaining 16 highest scorers across all four groups go through as wildcards. Good luck to all competitors for the third round! Figureskatingfan (talk · contribs · email), Miyagawa (talk · contribs · email) and Sturmvogel 66 (talk · contribs · email) 16:48, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
