Rapid transit service / From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arterial Bus Rapid Transit (Minnesota) is a series of bus based public transit lines that operate in the Twin Cities region of Minnesota. The lines are run by Metro Transit as a part of the METRO system. Currently 3 lines are operational, with another under construction. The A Line opened June 11, 2016 and runs on a mostly North-South alignment along Snelling Avenue. The C Line followed in 2019, and the D Line in 2022. The B Line began construction in spring of 2023 and is set to open in June 2025. Several other routes are in some level of planning and engineering. Arterial Bus Rapid Transit (ABRT) lacks traditional dedicated lanes common to other bus rapid transit systems, but does feature many upgrades over local bus routes. ABRT in the Twin Cities features upgraded bus stops that have heated shelters, off-board fare payment, ticket machines, and arrival signs.
