We the People is an online petition website operated by the United States government to allow users to petition the White House to take action on important issues. Petitions that obtain 100,000 signatures within 30 days receive an official response from the White House with 60 days. The website was launched September 22, 2011 by the Obama administration[1] and is hosted on whitehouse.gov.
