The AfD received 4.7% of the vote in the 2013 federal election, narrowly failing to reach the 5% electoral threshold.[8] The party won 7 of Germany's 96 seats for the European Parliament in the 2014 European election,[9] joining the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group in June 2014. As of 2015 the AfD has since gained representation in four German state parliaments.
