The European spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus), is a species of bark beetle in the true weevil family, Curculionidae. It is found in Europe and Asia Minor and east to China, Japan, North Korea and South Korea. Bark beetles are so named because they reproduce in the inner bark, living and dead phloem tissues, of trees. Their preferred trees in which to reside include spruces, firs, pines and larches. The species has the ability to spread quickly over large areas and some scientists hypothesize that long-distance movements originating from the Iberian Peninsula may have contributed to its invasion of northern Norway spruce forests. This female European spruce bark beetle was photographed in Naninne in the province of Namur, Belgium.Photograph credit: Ivar Leidus

One of the great things about being on Wikipedia is meeting and co-operating with so many people. I would like to thank the following users for the help they have given me while editing Wikipedia...
User page vandalism reverters |
Please note that I'm not very active. I am very busy in real life. I will pop in every once in a while to make a handful of minor edits every now and then. |

For several years now I have found several useful facts from Wikipedia. As a result I decided that I should help edit it. My name is NerdyScienceDude. I have been active on Wikipedia since January 2009 as an IP address. I created my account on December 3, 2009. Since then I have been granted rollback and reviewer rights. I enjoy editing articles aboutGerman U-boats, NASCAR, Skyscrapers, Macintosh and Apple Inc., iOS, New Mexico, and Scouting. I'm a dedicated vandal fighter as well; I use Twinkle and igloo to aid my vandal-fighting and CSD tagging. I also use tools such as Friendly, Nice, Hotcat,Advisor.js, and dashes.js. I also hang out at WP:ANI, WP:AIV,WP:UAA, WP:SPI, WP:RFA, WP:RPP, as well as clerking WP:CHU sometimes. Before I got my Wikipedia account, I edited under the IPs 98.230.214.136, 68.35.20.151, and69.254.153.143. I would find the administrator tools useful in my work, and I hope to become one in the future. I made my first edit ever on January 18, 2009. It was this edit to List of tallest buildings in the world using the 98. IP address.
