Torkamanchay (Persian: تركمانچائ)[lower-alpha 1] is a city in, and the capital of, Torkamanchay District of Mianeh County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran,[4] and also serves as the administrative center for Barvanan-e Markazi Rural District.[5] A suburb of Mianeh, it is well known for the Treaty of Turkmenchay of 1828.[citation needed]
