Tankaman
City in Alborz province, Iran / From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tankaman (Persian: تنکمان)[lower-alpha 1] is a city in, and the capital of, Tankaman District, Nazarabad County, Alborz province, Iran.[4] It also serves as the administrative center for Tankaman-e Jonubi Rural District (formerly Tankaman Rural District).[5]

At the 2006 census, its population was 4,742 in 1,226 households, when it was a village in the former Tankaman Rural District of Tankaman District, Nazarabad County, Tehran province.[6]
In August 2010, Karaj County, Nazarabad County, and Savojbolagh County were separated from the province in the establishment of Alborz province.[7]
At the most recent census in 2016, Tankaman's population was 4,654 in 1,459 households,[2] by which time the village had been elevated to the status of a city.[4]
