Plainby is a rural locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2021 census, Plainby had a population of 56 people.[1]

The locality takes its name from its school.[2]
A United Methodist Church opened in August 1900. The "neat little building" was 30 by 26 feet (9.1 by 7.9 m) and built by Joseph Butters of Toowoomba. Over 300 people attended the opening.[3][4] It was on a 1-acre (0.40 ha) site at 130 Swain Road (27.25572°S 151.95579°E).[5] The building is no longer extant.[6][7]
