Pirg is a village and a former municipality in the Korçë County, southeastern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Maliq.[1] The population at the 2011 census was 7,652.[2] The municipal unit consists of the villages Pirg, Gurishtë, Zvirinë, Leminot, Qershizë, Kakaç, Shqitas, Veliternë, Sovjan, Novoselë and Bubuq.[3] The etymology of this village comes from a southern Slavic language, meaning “Tower” in English. This means this village must’ve had an important tower, to be named as it.
