At the 2006 census, its population was 3,759 in 647 households, when it was in the former Dashtiari District of Chabahar County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 4,612 people in 948 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed the population had risen to 5,670 people in 1,320 households.[2]
In 2018, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Dashtiari County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Negur as its capital.[4]
