Maria Augusta Generoso Estrela

Maria Augusta Generoso Estrela (1860 –1946) was the first Brazilian woman to graduate in medicine, receiving her degree from the New York Medical College and Hospital for Women in New York state in 1881. In 1882, she returned to Brazil and started a career of providing medical care to women and children.[1]
