The M1 road is a road in Malawi.[1][2][3] It runs the length of Malawi, from Karonga District in the north to Nsanje District in the south.[4][5][6][7] All the main towns have a tollgate connecting each city.[8] The M1 road infrastructure is the backbone of the whole Malawi as well as its economy. It is a paved road that facilitates trade between Tanzania and South Africa, as well as other neighboring countries.[9][10] In Northern Region, the road links Chitimba and Chiweta which in turn connects the northern part of the country with Tanzania.[11][12]
