Lawson Wilkins
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lawson Wilkins (1894-1963) was a pioneering pediatric endocrinologist.[1][2][3] He is known along with John Money for pioneering surgeries for visibly intersex newborns.[4][5] (At the time, intersex anatomy was understood virtually exclusively as a birth defect as opposed to a nonpathological anatomical variation.) The Pediatric Endocrine Society was founded by physicians who trained under Wilkins, and the society's name originally included a tribute to him.
