The current pesäpallo stadium was built in the summer of 1990, but pesäpallo has been played at the same site for much longer. The field was resurfaced in the summer of 2012, when the Ankkurit were promoted to the main league after a break of several years. One of the special features of the field is the high pitches that disappear into the sun in cloudless weather.[1]
The name Kitro comes from the Kidron Valley in the Bible. Near the field is the River Kitron, from which the name is taken.[3]
