Vuong has faced multiple calls to resign.[2] He was dropped as the Liberal candidate following reports of an ongoing lawsuit against him and his face-mask producing company TakeCare Supply,[3] as well as a sexual assault charge from 2019. Vuong failed to disclose either during the party's internal vetting process. As nominations had already closed by that point, Vuong remained on the ballot as a Liberal and was elected. Vuong beat Norm Di Pasquale, the New Democratic Party (NDP) candidate in Spadina—Fort York, by less than 1,400 votes.[4]
Vuong has indicated he may be looking towards running for the Conservative Party in the next election.[5] He took out a Conservative membership in 2023 and asked Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre to join the caucus, which the party declined.[6]
Prior to entering politics, Vuong worked in the business and finance industry and served as a reserve officer in the Royal Canadian Navy.
