During the Syrian War, Kafr Naya was conquered by the Islamic State (IS)[3] but eventually captured by the Kurdish led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in 2016,[4] bringing it into the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. The area is sometimes targeted by militants backed by Turkey.[5][6][7]
