Located on the west of the province, the city is bordered to the northwest by Huayuan and Baojing Counties, to the northeast by Guzhang County, to the southeast by Luxi County, to the southwest by Fenghuang County. Jishou City covers 1,078.33 km2 (416.35 sq mi), as of 2015, It had a registered population of 301,000 and a resident population of 286,400.[5]
