Hyperia is a steel hypercoaster located at Thorpe Park in Chertsey, Surrey, England. Manufactured by Mack Rides, the ride opened as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the UK on 24 May 2024. Its height of 236 feet (72 m) surpasses the previous record holder, The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, by 23 feet (7.0 m),[2] and its maximum speed, which is claimed to exceed 80 mph (130 km/h), surpasses Stealth also at Thorpe Park.[3] Hyperia also features three inversions and was built on the site formerly occupied by Loggers Leap and Rocky Express.[4][5] The ride experienced an issue after only one day of operation,[6] and the park announced that it would be closed until at least 8 June 2024.[7]
