Deutsch: Der Landkreis Kitzingen besteht seit 1972 aus großen Teilen des ehemaligen Landkreises Kitzingen, der einst kreisfreien Stadt Kitzingen sowie aus Gemeinden der ehemaligen Landkreise Gerolzhofen, Scheinfeld, Uffenheim und Bamberg. Die beiden kleinen Schildchen erinnern an die wichtigsten Herrschaftsinhaber im Kreisgebiet bis zum Ende des Alten Reichs 1803. Die drei silbernen Spitzen weisen auf das Hochstift Würzburg, zu dessen Territorium fast die gesamte Region gehörte. Die Vierung von Rot und Silber ist das Wappen der Grafen von Castell. Sie sind seit dem 11. Jahrhundert im Kreisgebiet belegt. Ihre Hauptschlösser Castell und Rüdenhausen liegen im Landkreis. Die Vierung und der Rechen waren Bestandteile des Wappens des Alt-Landkreises Gerolzhofen, die drei Spitzen im Wappen des Alt-Landkreises Scheinfeld. Die Brücke stellt die Große Kreisstadt Kitzingen dar. Das Rebstück symbolisiert den für die Region bedeutenden Weinbau. |
