David Varney

Sir David Robert Varney (born 11 May 1946[1]) was the chairman of HM Revenue and Customs from its establishment in April 2005 to the end of August 2006. He was named as a recipient of a knighthood in the 2006 New Year's honours list. In the same year he was awarded an Honorary Degree, Doctor of Laws (LL. D.) from the University of Bath.
