She started her way into politics in 2001, when she was elected to the Carnikava Parish Council.[4] From 2009 until 2015 and from 2016 until 2021, Jurēvica (Mieriņa) was the Council Chair of Carnikava Municipality. After the municipality was merged into Ādaži Municipality, she was elected as a council member during the 2021 municipal election.
During the 2022 parliamentary election, Mieriņa was elected as a member of the Latvian parliament for its 14th term and she represents the Latvian Farmers' Union.[5] She became chair of the committee for local government and state administration.[6]
In September 2023, she was nominated Speaker of the Saeima after the Parliament first refused to vote in Gunārs Kūtris.[7] Mieriņa was elected on September 20 by a majority of 55 votes (34 MPs voted against).[8]
