It was a production of Group 3 Films with backing from the NFFC. Shooting took place at Beaconsfield Studios and on location in Norfolk. The film's sets were designed by the art director Ray Simm. It is one of the rare British aviation films that focused on the ground crew as opposed to aircrew.[5]

Conflict of Wings was released to cinemas in London on 30 March 1954. It was released later that year in the United States under the title Fuss Over Feathers.[6]
