Robert M. Dyer (born August 10, 1950) is an American politician serving as the mayor of Virginia Beach, Virginia since 2018.[1] A Republican, he served as a member of the city council for 14 years prior to his election as mayor. Dyer has also been a physical therapist for over 40 years and a professor of government at his alma mater, Regent University.[2][3] He won the November 2018 election for mayor despite being outraised by his opponent Ben Davenport nearly 5 to 1.[4]
