The brothers were a part of the Gama wrestling family, which has been active since 1850[2] and has been associated with the sport for several generations, preceding the independence of Pakistan. This family produced numerous Pakistani wrestling champions including Bholu Pahalwan, Azam Pahalwan, Aslam Pahalwan, Akram Pahalwan, and Goga Pahalwan. They were the sons of Imam Baksh Pahalwan, known as Rustam-e-Hind, and nephews of Gama Pehlwan. The Bholu Pahalwan family's involvement in wrestling extended to owning and operating several wrestling gyms.
