Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat will be subject to boundary changes which will entail the loss of the town of Batley to the new constituency of Dewsbury and Batley. As a consequence, it will be renamed Spen Valley, to be first contested in the 2024 general election.[3]
