Allentown Queen City Municipal Airport houses the Civil Air Patrol's Squadron 805, Lehigh Valley Aviation Services, a fixed-base operator,[2] Vertivue Air Charters, a private airplane and helicopter charter service, and FlyGateway Aviation Institute, formerly Gateway Aviation, a multi-location flight school affiliated with and utilized by Liberty University and FlyGateway's career pilot programs.
On July 31, 2008, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airport identifier briefly changed from 1N9 to JVU. After seeking approval for an identifier associated with the airport, the FAA approved the airport's identifier change to XLL, which was implemented on November 20, 2008. The airport does not have an assigned IATA code.
