Allari was released on 10 May 2002 and was a box office success.[3] Naresh who became popular with this film, eventually prefixed the title Allari to his name.[4] The film was remade in Tamil as Kurumbu. The film is loosely based on 1987 American teen romantic drama film Some Kind of Wonderful.
