Alexander Wykeham "Alex" Ellis CMG (born 5 June 1967) is a British civil servant, currently Ambassador designate to Spain, scheduled to take up his post in Summer 2024.[1] He has previously been High Commissioner to India,[2] Ambassador to Brazil and before that Portugal, and Deputy National Security Adviser for the Integrated Review on diplomacy, development and defence.[3] Ellis was previously the Director General of the Department for Exiting the EU.[4] He had previously been Britain's ambassador to Brazil from July 2013 to January 2017.
