Agyen Kokobo
Founder of the Akwamu kingdom / From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Agyen Kokobo (fl. c. 1480 – c. 1500) was a southern Akan migrant leader in what is now Ghana. He is believed to have been the earliest leader and founder of the Akwamu[1] kingdom, which he led from around 1480 to around 1500, possibly later. While serving as the Akwamu Chief, Agyen Kokobo ruled the state with his mother as the queen mother.[2] Even today, rulers of the Akwamu kingdom still claim to be descendants of Agyen Kokobo; in the 1960s, one man claimed to be his 28th descendant.[1]
