Eine Powerstation oder Energiestation oder Starthilfe-Booster ist eine multifunktionale mobile Energiequelle, meist auf Basis eines Lithiumakkus.[1] Gedacht für den kurzzeitigen Betrieb von Kfz-Zubehör mit Zigarettenanzünder-Stecker und als Starthilfe. Sie eignet sich durch den eingebauten Akku mäßig zur Starthilfe eines PKW. Mit dem manchmal eingebauten Kompressor können Reifen aufgepumpt werden, vielfach ist auch eine zuschaltbare Leuchte und in letzter Zeit eine USB-Buchse enthalten. Der Akku einer Powerstation wird im Haushalt über ein meist wenig leistungsfähiges Steckerladegerät in Gebrauchsbereitschaft gehalten und benötigt daher – einmal entladen – bis zur erneuten vollen Betriebsbereitschaft eine relativ lange Ladedauer.
Energiestationen wurden anfangs oft über Homeshopping-Sender mit realitätsfern übertrieben dargestellten Fähigkeiten vermarktet, heute findet der Vertrieb üblicherweise über den Kfz-Zubehörhandel und Baumärkte statt.
Seit etwa 2019 werden Lithium-Akkumulatoren unterschiedlicher Zellchemie mit einem Laderegler, einem Wechselrichter sowie USB-Lademöglichkeiten als Powerstationen angeboten.
Bei diesen Geräten steht der Starthilfegedanke nicht mehr im Vordergrund. Vielmehr geht es um mobile Stromversorgung, die durch Solarmodule unterstützt werden kann.
