Augustin-Jean Fresnel

Augustin-Jean Fresnel (10. května 1788, Broglie, Francie – 14. července 1827, Ville-d'Avray u Paříže), byl francouzský fyzik.

• Všiml jsem si, že stíny nikdy neskončí ostře tak, jak by měly, kdyby se světlo šířilo pouze svým původním směrem. Místo toho se světlo šíří do stínu a je obtížné definovat bod, ve kterém zmizí.
  I observed that shadows never clearly end as they should if light only propagated in its initial direction. Instead, the light spreads within the shadow, and it is difficult to define the point at which it disappears.^[1]
