Natural de Davenport (Iowa), ye fía de Sally Boyle, una alministrativa qu'anguaño ye'l so asistente y mánager. Amás d'ascendencia irlandesa, tien un güelu ítaloamericano.[2]
Creció en Chicago (Illinois) y Wisconsin. Boyle estudió y graduóse en The Chicago Academy for the Arts.
Dempués d'actuar en delles películes como Dead Poets Society y Wayne's World, amás de ser aclamada pola crítica pola serie Twin Peaks, nel añu 1997, Boyle actúa na serie The Practice, pola cual ye nomada pal Premiu Emmy.
