) foi una actriz y humorista d'Estaos Xuníos, meyor conocida poles sos interpretaciones mientres la década de 1970 en cine y, sobremanera, en televisión. De magar, ye considerada como una de les figures más representatives del humorismo. Les sos interpretaciones facer acreedora de numberosos premios, ente ellos ocho Primetime Emmy, un Óscar y un Globu d'Oru.

Cloris saltó a la fama nos años 1970 al actuar na serie The Mary Tyler Moore Show y na película The Last Picture Show. Tamién apaeció en tres películes de Mel Brooks, incluyendo la esitosa Young Frankenstein.
En 2008, a la edá de 82 años, concursó nel programa Dancing with the Stars.[8]
Los primeros años
Cloris, la mayor de tres hermanos, nació en Des Moines, fía de Cloris Wallace y Berkeley "Buck" Leachman.[9][10]
Carrera
Primeros trabayos
Leachman camudar en 1947 a Nueva York, onde consiguió trabayu como modelu y estudió actuación con Elia Kazan nel Actors Studio. Poco dempués empezó a trabayar en Broadway. Foi contratada pa participar en Sundown Beach (1948) y South Pacific (1949).
Nos siguientes años actuó n'otres obres teatrales como Come Back, Little Sheba de William Inge, a la que depués abandonó pa integrar el repartu de la obra de William Shakespeare As You Like It.[11]
El papel de Phyllis Lindstrom
Leachman llogró la reconocencia nel so país gracies a la comedia televisiva The Mary Tyler Moore Show, de la que formó parte dende 1970 a 1975. Ellí interpretó'l papel de Phyllis Lindstrom, la vecina y amiga del personaxe central de la serie: Mary Richards, interpretada por Mary Tyler Moore. Amás de Tyler Moore, l'actriz compartió creitos con Edward Asner, Valerie Harper, Gavin MacLeod, Ted Knight, Georgia Engel y Betty White. The Last Picture Show y collaboraciones con Mel Brooks
Participó xunto a Cybill Shepherd, Eileen Brennan, Ellen Burstyn, Clu Gulager y Randy Quaid na película The Last Picture Show, dirixida por Peter Bogdanovich. El filme, basáu na novela homónima publicada en 1966 por Larry McMurtry, recibió reseñes positives de diverses fontes y recaldó cerca de 30 millones de dólares en tol mundu. Pol so trabayu nesti llargumetraxe Leachman ganó'l Premiu Óscar como meyor actriz de repartu, el premiu BAFTA, tamién como meyor actriz de repartu, y foi candidata a un Globu d'Oru.
En 1977, apaeció como convidada nel episodiu #24 del ciclu The Muppet Show. Nestos años tamién apaeció en dellos episodios de la serie Schoolhouse Rock.[12]
En 1993 Leachman participó na película The Beverly Hillbillies xunto con actores como Lily Tomlin, Jim Varney, Diedrich Bader, Erika Eleniak y Dolly Parton.
En 2004 participó na película Spanglish xunto a Adam Sandler, Tia Leoni y Paz Vega.
Más tarde, en 2006, protagonizó'l telefilme pa HBO Mrs. Harris, al llau de Sir Ben Kingsley y Annette Bening. Esta película valió-y a Cloris una nominación al Emmy por meyor actriz secundaria nuna miniserie o telefilme.
