Kew-paleis (Engels: Kew Palace) is ’n Britse paleis in die Kew- Botaniese Tuin aan die oewer van die Teemsrivier in Londen. Daar het minstens drie paleise gestaan, waarvan die laaste twee definitief as Kew-paleis bekend was. Geen rekord van die eerste paleis het behoue gebly nie. Die huidige Kew-paleis is die tweede paleis wat gebou is; dit is oop vir die publiek. Dit word versorg deur ’n onafhanklike welsynorganisasie wat geld kry van die regering en die koningin.[1]
Nie veel is van die eerste paleis bekend nie, behalwe dat koningin Elizabeth I dit aan Robert Dudley, haar kindertydvriend en gunsteling, gegee het.
Die tweede paleis, die sogenaamde Ou Paleis of Hollandse Huis, is in 1631 deur Samuel Fortrey laat bou. Dit het die eiendom geword van Samuel Molyneux, die sekretaris van koning George II. Die koningsgesin het dit van 1734 af gehuur[2] en koning George III het dit in 1781 van die destydse eienaars gekoop.[3][4]
Die derde paleis is deels deur George III ontwerp, en die res deur James Wyatt. Bouwerk aan die "Nuwe Paleis" het in 1802 begin, naby die Kew-paleis. Die styl het nie baie lof ontlok nie en het nie in die smaak van George IV, destyds die kroonprins, geval nie. In 1828 het die parlement gelas dat die gebou gesloop word en sommige dele is in ander koninklike wonings aangebring.[5]
Die trap is later in Buckingham-paleis gebruik.[5]
Die tweede gebou is die een wat vandag nog bestaan. Ondanks sy naam is dit eerder die grootte van ’n herehuis. Dit is in 2006 weer aan die publiek oopgestel ná ’n 10 jaar lange restourasie.
