Zile, anciently known as Zela (Greek: Ζῆλα) (still as Latin Catholic titular see), is a city in Tokat Province, Turkey. It is the seat of Zile District.[2] Its population is 33,557 (2022).[1] Zile lies to the south of Amasya and the west of Tokat in north-central Turkey. The city has a long history, including as former bishopric and the site of the Battle of Zela, which prompted the phrase "Veni, vidi, vici."[3] Today the city is a center for agricultural marketing and tourism.
