The PAS never managed to have a real presence in the Mexican elections other than in the 2000 general election, where the party was part of the Alliance for Mexico, the coalition that supported Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano's candidacy for president, which permitted the party to conserve its registration and gave it two Federal Deputies in the 58th Legislature.
