Project Vela

Project Vela was a United States Department of Defense project to monitor Soviet Union compliance with the 1963 Partial Test Ban Treaty.[1] The treaty banned the testing of nuclear weapons in the atmosphere, in outer space, and underwater, but permitted underground testing.
