Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat was abolished. Subject to boundary changes - expanding it into the Borough of Ribble Valley, including the town of Clitheroe - it will be reformed as Pendle and Clitheroe, to be first contested at the 2024 general election.[3]
