Hioki, Kagoshima

Hioki (日置市, Hioki-shi) is a city in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. As of May 1, 2010, the city had a population of 51,819[1] and a population density of 205 persons per km². The total area is 253.06 km2 (97.71 sq mi).

The modern city of Hioki was established on May 1, 2005, from the merger of the towns of Fukiage, Higashiichiki, Hiyoshi and Ijūin (all from Hioki District).
