Les six diagrammes ci-dessus montrent le fr:Soleil au centre (le point orange) et la bande orbitale (en jaune) d'une fr:planète quelconque. Les rebords de cette bande sont définis par le fr:périhélie (rebord intérieur) et l'fr:aphélie (rebord extérieur) de la planète.

The six diagrams above show the en:Sun at the center (orange point) and the orbital band (in yellow) of any en:planet. The edges of this band are defined by the en:perihelion (inner rim) and the en:aphelion (outer rim) of the planet.
