The 2024 Rio Grande do Sul floods are severe floods caused by heavy rains and storms that have hit the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, and the adjacent Uruguayan cities of Treinta y Tres, Paysandú, Cerro Largo, and Salto. From 29 April 2024 through to May 2024,[5] it resulted in 181 fatalities (as of 7 July 2024),[1][2] widespread landslides, and a dam collapse. It is considered the country's worst flooding in over 80 years.[5]
