On March 12, 2024, the Sharks were eliminated from playoff contention for the fifth consecutive season with their 3–2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers and a 5–4 overtime win by the Vegas Golden Knights over the Seattle Kraken.[2] The Sharks finished with a total of 47 points, the lowest ever total for an 82-game season with one point awarded for an overtime or shootout loss.
