The Society of Dilettanti, manière noire de William Say d'après l'un des deux portraits de groupe de 1777 composés par Joshua Reynolds (actuellement exposés au Brooks's (en) Club) : au centre, pointant un livre, William Hamilton ; derrière lui, debout tenant une jarretière, John Taylor (1745-1786) ; debout, brandissant son verre, Richard Thompson, et parlant avec lui, Walter Spencer-Stanhope ; appuyé à la table à droite, John Smyth ; à gauche, buvant un verre, Stephen Payne-Gallway, et enfin, à l'extrême gauche, William Watkins Wynn[1].
