The film had its world premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on 2 September 2023, before it was released theatrically in Italy on 28 September 2023 by 01 Distribution. The film's release and promotion were impacted by the sexual abuse controversies surrounding Polanski. It bombed at the box office and received mostly unfavourable reviews from critics who criticised the humour, later calling it Polanski's worst movie.[5][6][7]
