2024 zebra escape
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On April 28, 2024, four zebras escaped a trailer near Interstate 90 in North Bend, Washington.[1] Three of the zebras were captured within hours.[2][3][4][5] The fourth, known as both "Shug"[6] and "Z",[7] remained on the loose[8][9][10] for nearly a week before being rescued.[11][12][13] Z was captured in good condition, but some people questioned the method.[14]

Initially believed to be a stallion, two mares, and a filly, it was later confirmed there were three mares and a filly.[7][15] King County Regional Animal Services was involved.[16] Z was later seen in South Fork,[17] then southeast of Riverbend.[18] A cougar was seen along the same trail as Z.[19] Animal control officers stopped actively searching,[20] and asked the public to stay away from the zebra, later seen in the Boxley Creek area.[21][22]
